The Council of Ministers will study a plan in the interest of announcing the move to the third stage of the return to normal life plan either at today’s meeting or to postpone it to  Thursday, reports Al Qabas daily.

Three scenarios were outlined for evaluation and for the opinion of the medical team and the Minister of Health Dr. Basel Al-Sabah. In the first scenario, the country will move to the third stage while keeping the current curfew and end it after Eid. The second scenario is the transition to the third stage as scheduled without any amendment, and so the curfew remains. As for the last scenario, the third stage will be postponed until Eid.

All possibilities are being examined for the Ministry to make the best decision according to indicators of coronavirus transmission and infection rates.  Al Qabas reports that the medical team evaluated the transition stage under several health criteria and indicators, the main one being the number of infections in intensive care, the number of deaths and the extent of the spread among infected patients in hospitals and in the country and in unaffected areas.

The daily notes that some European countries with advanced health facilities opened the stages, but later had to the lockdown stage because the coronavirus spread again, the health authorities are keen to avoid such a situation where the coronavirus returns and necessitates another lockdown.

The following points will also be discussed

  • Evaluating the conditions of Farwaniya to remove or continue lockdown.
  • Cancel or maintain the partial curfew or reduce the number of hours. 
  • The start of the third stage of the return to normalcy plan, which includes opening hotels, resorts, hotel apartments, and allowing taxis for one passenger, visits to care homes, and workplaces in government agencies and the private sector to be open with less than 50%. Merging and opening some activities of other stages such as health clubs, barber shops, salons and tailoring shops.
