The Ministry of Electricity and Water has set the schedule to receive applications for the licensing of the supply of electric vehicle chargers, as well as the licensing for the installation of chargers by individuals and entities on 2 December, according to an Arab daily.

The report mentioned that the licenses will be approved electronically after submitting the request through the ministry’s website, adding that the ministry will verify if the submission conforms to the approved standard specifications and controls for importation or installation. Furthermore, requests in compliance with the standards will be immediately approved for the suppliers to import the chargers, however, in terms of customer specifications, suppliers will have to submit their requests to the ministry, after which the suitability of the chargers for home use will be discussed before granting permission for the installation and licensure.

Moreover, the report mentioned that installing any charger in homes without properly obtaining a license is a violation that will result in the judicial seizure for the violating homeowner or the party that installed the chargers.
