The UK Health Department on Saturday confirmed 621 additional fatalities due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), taking the country’s death toll to 28,131.
The department, in a press statement, also recorded 4,806 more infections with the globally spreading respiratory disease, raising the total number of cases to 182,260.
In addition, medical teams have conducted a total of 1.1 million tests for people suspected of contracting the virus until Saturday morning, it added.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Thursday that Britain was “past the peak” of the coronavirus crisis.
