Indian government sources said on Monday that COVID-19 has claimed 13,699 lives so far in the country while the positive cases since the outbreak of the pandemic stood at 425,282.
The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its update today that in the last 24 hours, 445 lives were lost due to the deadly virus while the number of positive cases reported in the same duration was 14,821.
So far, 237,196 people have recovered, the ministry added. Indian government had announced its decision to extend the lockdown in containment zones while giving key relaxations in the less affected areas.
However, many state governments are unwilling to extend the lockdown as it has already made normal life and economic activities in jeopardy.
