Unequivocally, the pulse of the world beats as one to overcome the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its devastating impacts around the globe.

However, almost all world countries are still reporting horribly growing numbers of virus infections and fatalities. Almost two million people around the world have now been confirmed to have the deadly virus, with over 126,000 fatalities.

Starting with Belgium, 283 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, raising the toll to 4,440.

Some 2,454 new confirmed cases have been reported in the past 24 hours, raising the total to 33.573, the Belgian Health Ministry announced Wednesday.

In addition, 250 new patients with COVID-19 were hospitalized and 239 people left the hospital yesterday, the ministry said in a press statement.

Between March 15 and April 14, 11,932 patients with coronavirus entered the hospital and 7,107 people were discharged, it added.

n Norway, three additional deaths from coronavirus were confirmed in Norway, taking the toll up to 130, according to figures released by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

Some 111 new coronavirus cases were detected, raising the total to 6,677. A total of 184 people in intensive care with confirmed coronavirus have been treated in intensive care units, an increase of one case, it said.

Meanwhile, 189 more coronavirus patients have died in the Netherlands, raising the toll to 3,134, according to Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment.

Some 734 more people have tested positive for the virus, taking the total number to 28,153 and 188 more patients have been admitted to hospitals raising the number to 9,127.

Lebanon announced a fresh death case and 17 more infections, bringing the tally to 21 and 658 respectively, with 81 recoveries in total.

The Iranian Ministry of Health confirmed 94 more fatalities, raising the country’s mortality rate to 4,777. It also announced that the number of infections with this respiratory disease had spiked by 1,512 to 76,389, with a total of 49,333 recoveries.

In Russia, health authorities put the count of deaths and cases at 198 and 24,490 respectively, with 3,388 recoveries.

In Spain, the daily number of deaths from the coronavirus fell slightly on Wednesday to 523 from 567 the previous day, announced the Health Ministry.

In spite of efforts to flatten the curve, Spain confirmed 5,092 more infections, with the total tally jumping to 177,633 cases and fatalities to 18,579.

However, a total of 70,850 virus patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals in Spain, which remains one of the world’s worst-hit countries, only coming behind the US and Italy.

Germany reported 2,486 additional infections, raising the total number of its confirmed cases to 127,584, with the death toll jumping to 3,254.

Still in Europe, Austrian health authorities said that the tally of fatalities had gone up by nine to 393, with 140 new cases to become 14,246 in total, in the last 24 hours.

However, Cambodia has reported no new infections with the virus over the last three days, with 95 recoveries.
