The court headed by Counselor Saleh Al-Morished, has acquitted 33 employees of the ‘Timas’ company and overturned the verdicts against them including fines and prison terms.
The Al-Seyassah daily said, the Court of Appeals had earlier sentenced the employees to prison terms of up to 7 years and fined them 160 million dinars, but the ‘Cassation’ overturned the Appeals verdict and upheld the verdict of Court of First Instance.
The Public Prosecution had accused the defendants of money laundering 8.4 million dinars between Jan 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017, by transferring money fully aware that the money was obtained through fraudulent methods and assisting other ‘defendants involved in the case to evade legal punishment.
