The Court of Appeal decided to overturn the verdict of the lower court and decide to refrain from punishing defendants of the charge of beating a shepherd and stealing two sheep.

The Al-Rai daily said the lower court had found the two men guilty of stealing the two animals worth 200 dinars, and beating the shepherd and were sentenced to five years imprisonment.

In court the defendants said they did not beat the shepherd, but rather tricked by one of them distracting him by talking to him about the sheep and their characteristics while the other loaded the two animals into the car.

The two defendants agreed to pay 2,000 dinars for the value of the two sheep and the court refrained from punishing them.
