Three cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Kuwait and the first case has also been diagnosed by health officials in Bahrain. The virus has now spread to seven countries in the Middle East with more than 79,000 infections worldwide.

Bahrain-A Bahraini citizen arriving back in the kingdom from Iran is currently in isolation and supervision at Ebrahim Khalil Knaoo Medical Centre after being diagnosed with the virus. Individuals who had been in contact with the patient have also been referred to isolation.

Iran– Four more people have died of coronavirus in Iran today making it to total death counts to 12 and a total of 47 cases.

Iraq- Iraq has confirmed its first novel coronavirus case, an Iranian national living in the southern city of Najaf, according to health officials. Iraq had blocked travel to and from Iran days before announcing that the religious seminary student in Najaf is its first confirmed case.

Egypt- Egypt confirmed its only case of a deadly coronavirus at the end of last year. Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Mugahed  stated that the affected person was a “foreigner” who did not show any serious symptoms.

Lebanon– Lebanon announced the first coronavirus case in the country on Friday. A 45-year-old woman arriving in Lebanon via plane from Iran’s province of Qom, where coronavirus cases were recently confirmed, Health Minister Hamad Hassan told reporters in Beirut.

UAE– The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, announced two new cases of the new coronavirus, identified as “Covid-19”, including a 70-year-old Iranian visitor, whose health is unstable and he is in the intensive care unit. The last case brings the number of those infected in the UAE to 13 with three having recovered.

Kuwait– Kuwaiti Ministry said three people, including a Saudi national, who returned from Iran were infected by the new coronavirus. 

Meaniwhile, Kuwait has come forward to join hands with WHO in a fight against Coronavirus. The country has donated Half a million USD to World Health Organization (WHO)

 A part of its annual voluntary contribution is diverted to help fight coronavirus, or COVID-19. Jamal Al-Ghunaim, Kuwait’s  representative to UN and international organizations informed Media that on Monday he made the donation during a meeting he had with Dr. Michael Ryan, Executive Director, WHO Health Emergencies Program. 

He assured that the WHO Health Emergencies Program will use Kuwait’s voluntary contribution in many pressing regional and international projects. He further added that the Kuwait supported WHO’s endeavors to fight coronavirus and Kuwait’s delegation to the UN in Geneva was in contact with WHO on a daily basis to get latest updates about COVID19 to send them back to Kuwait.

 Al-Ghunaim also said that the relations between WHO and Kuwait would witness “an important leap” following the opening of an office of WHO in Kuwait
