Kuwait recorded 23 new cases of Coronavirus infected persons today as a result of the increase in the number of COVID 19 positive cases among Asians which spiked to 12 cases in just one day. As a result, the total number of cases among Asians increased to 49,  with the highest number being Indians at 34, 9 Filipinos and 6 Bangladeshis. This sudden rise is a cause for concern among authorities and there are calls for stringent measures to contain the spread among communities.

Kuwait is witnessing an unprecedented medical crisis with the coronavirus infection spreading among the community, and the government is keen to contain the spread at whatever the cost, including extending the partial curfew to a full curfew and arranging for the deportation of almost 200,000 marginal and illegal workers in the country.

Arabic daily Al Rai said preparations to receive residency violators through an amnesty program from tomorrow for deportation is aimed at reducing the number of these violators in the country that will also consequently reduce the pressure on the health facilities in the country.

Several areas that are over populated with marginal expats can be a ticking time bomb for the spread of the infection, hence emergency measures are planned to be activated to ensure the health and safety of all.
