While “Corona” infection cases continue to increase on a daily basis ‘clinical occupancy’ continues to be stable and according to health sources among the reasons for recording high numbers of infections is that many infected citizens and residents took a PCR test after the expiry of the 7-day quarantine period, for the purpose of reassurance or the need to fulfill travel requirements.

Al-Rai quoting health sources said the results of the tests after this period often continue to be positive, and in some cases up to about 30 days from the date of infection or the first positive smear, but the ability of the virus to transmit infection becomes almost non-existent, and therefore the quarantine period is limited to 7 days.

For the second day in a row, yesterday, the daily index crossed the 6 thousand barrier, with 6515 cases recorded, while intensive care cases rose to 86 yesterday, with a slight increase also in cases receiving treatment in “Covid wards” reaching 410, and the percentage of infections compared to the number of swabs is 18 percent.

Within the framework of the periodic review of the price of the PCR examination, and with the aim of easing the burden on citizens, the Ministry of Health approved reducing its price, so that it does not exceed 6 dinars maximum and the decision will cone into force as of next Sunday.

Informed sources told Al-Rai that the Ministry of Health constantly monitors the prices of raw materials for examinations, and that the reduction is accompanied by a decline in the prices of these materials, stressing care not to include civil laboratories that play a national and social role in the margin of loss, and at the same time preserving the rights of visitors to obtain at the best price.

The sources indicated that the decision will reduce a lot of pressure on those who are likely to be infected, as the number of swabs that are conducted per month is about 700 thousand, and the reduction would encourage everyone who feels symptoms to initiate the examination, and thus reduce the chance of spreading the infection and mixing with other confirmed infected persons.
