The President of the Union of Cooperative Societies, Meshaal Al-Sayyar, called on all citizens and residents to be completely reassured, and not to be worried over the full lockdown, especially as all their needs during the full lockdown period will be available in the “cooperatives”, reported Al Rai daily.

Al-Sayyar said that the supplies of commodities that consumers need are available and they are continuously supplied to the markets, and they will be able to purchase what they require in an organized way, through a system of pre-booking appointments for shopping with a barcode.

He pointed out that the cooperative societies is fully prepared to meet all the needs of citizens and residents comfortably during the full lockdown, which should reassure everyone that things are now easier to deal with after all the procedures have been organized in the past two months in coordination with the concerned government agencies.

He stressed the need for citizens and residents not to resort to storing goods, or making large unjustified purchases, in order to ensure that every person is able to purchase what they needs, as well as to reduce waste rates, especially with perishable goods that do not have long-term shelf life.

Al-Sayyar noted that the Union of Cooperative Societies, as is its custom since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, follows-up around the clock the developments of the markets and the decisions they need in cooperation with the relevant government agencies to take and implement the necessary decisions as quickly as possible that meets the market requirements and ensures that citizens and residents benefit.
