A spokesman for the Ministry of Communications, Eng Mishaal Al-Zaid said the completion of the work of the first phase of the plan to replace the old fiber system, which remained suspended since 2010, will start next Sunday, from the Al-Bida’a area, followed by Salwa, Rumaithiya, Salmiya, Ras Salmiya, Kuwait City and Fintas Agricultural Area.

Al-Zaid explained in a press statement that the completion of the work of the first phase comes based on the two-year modernization contract signed with the Kuwaiti “Nokia Solutions and Networks” company last May, reports a local Arabic daily.

The contract will be completed without the ministry incurring any financial expenses during its validity period.

He appealed to the owners of homes and buildings in the Al-Bidaa area to cooperate with the engineers of the ministry and the concerned company to replace the old fiber devices with the new ones so that the subscriber can benefit from high speed Internet through service providers.
