Safety Department at Ahmadi Municipality conducted an inspection tour of companies and factories in the south of the country to ensure that safety standards were being maintained and to check on the validity of licenses.

Acting-Director of the Safety Department, Khalid Al-Otaibi said the tour carried out by inspectors resulted in the issuance of citations totalling KD136,000 because a majority of the owners of these companies and factories had encroached on government land or were operating without a license.

He added that the department had also issued 12 warnings to those companies that discarded construction debris in front of homes or establishments.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior personnel conducting identification card searches in Ahmadi governorate arrested over 50 people for violating residence and labor laws. Some of those arrested were found to have overstayed in the country by not renewing their residence permit.

Many of those arrested were hawkers selling foodstuffs and fruits unfit for consumption, as well as clothes and other sundry items. Inspectors from the municipality confiscated the clothing items and trashed the rotten food. Legal procedures have been adopted against those arrested.

The Public Relations Department at Ahmadi Municipality has called on owners of companies and factories to comply fully with all municipality regulations. The hotline number to receive any kinds of complaints is 139, which operates around the clock. The complaint can also be filed through email on:municipality@kuwmun.
