Colonel Muhammad Mubarak Al-Hajri died in a tragic road accident on Wafra Road when the patrol car was driven by his colleague reportedly ran out of control suddenly killing the officer on the spot.

Al-Rai quoting security sources said, “The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident has been arrested and referred for interrogation while at the same time denying reports published earlier that the patrol car was involved in a ‘chase’.

As the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmed Al-Mansour, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major-General Anwar Abdullatif Al-Barjas, and senior officers from the security establishment have condoled the death of Colonel Al-Hajri, security sources said the Ministry of Interior is investigating the incident and unloading the patrol’s cameras to reveal the circumstances of the accident and know the truth.

The sources added the General Traffic Department’s radar cameras show the vehicle was speeding beyond the permissible limit. The violent deviation from far left to the middle and right lanes caused the painful accident, according to the video recordings of the patrol.
