Member of the Municipal Council, Engineer Abdel Salam Al Randi, has announced on the Municipality’s ‘Twitter’ to fullfill the Municipality’s request to reduce the number of cleaning workers, presently 11,703, when new contracts are signed, instead adopting modern technology to remove waste, which is more efficient and contributes to reducing marginal employment, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
His tweet read, “If we want to reduce employment, then we need an integrated system in order to introduce new mechanisms – the policy that has been followed worldwide since large factories manufacture precision instruments using modern technologies instead of depending on humans.”
Blogger Reem asked about the secret behind the lack of development of the cleaning process in the Kuwait Municipality, saying: “What prevents us from being among the first countries to clean and preserve the environment? Another blogger Rasha said, “I hope that you reduce the number of domestic workers in homes, only one servant per house … most expatriate domestic workers depend on the state and its infrastructure,” the tweet read.
Moaz Al-Tourah emphasized that “the global development is very fast, and we still trail behind when the issue of hygiene comes to the surface. Take for example the waste recycling which is important, and we can benefit from it. What we see is cleaning companies pay money to win contracts, not the other way around.”
“Vigorous monitoring of beach-goers at the waterfront must be implemented and measures taken against everyone who throws or leaves waste behind because the situation is very bad and the majority are not interested in protecting the beaches either due to their lack of interest or fear of the law,” added blogger AlSinger. Al-Rahman Al-Hudaib suggested the cleanliness contracts should be in signed on the BOT (build, operate, transfer) system with the Public Private Partnership Projects Authority.
