The cleanliness committee went on a tour of Mubarak Al-Kabeer and other areas in Sabhan and Qurain to discover garbage heaps in several areas and in some cases, it appears the garbage had been abandoned for several months, Al-Seyassah daily reported. In some areas, there were many dogs and cats rifling through the garbage for food.

The head of the contracts department in the Municipal Council Eng. Abdul Salam Al Randi, coordinator of the cleanliness committee Eng. Maha Al-Baghli led the tour to deal with cleanliness issues by learning firsthand from officers in charge of the cleanliness regarding the nature of their work. This would help to outline a mechanism to adapt to follow up and deal with cleaning companies to handle the cleanliness issue.

It was observed that the condition in some areas posed a health risk, and worsened the image of the cultural landscape, which was evidence of a laxity by the cleaning companies. Eng. Al-Baghli said violations are evident, and noted it is necessary to check on the work of the cleaning companies to ensure they are regularly clearing the garbage piles.
