Director of the Municipality, Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, is reported to have formed a joint committee to follow up on the existing situation in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and has set a date in mid-November to begin operations to ‘clean-up’ the area.

Al-Manfouhi is said to have met with senior officials in the Ministry of Interior (MoI) with the aim of taking back control of the area. The municipality, in collaboration with the MoI, is also reported to have begun monitoring houses, real estate buildings and warehouses, with the aim of eliminating all manifestations of illegal activities in the area.

The newly formed committee will monitor the movements of violators, the location of illegal food stores, and gathering places of fugitive laborers and violators of residence law. An operations room will be set up to coordinate field teams as they move in for the clean-up that will include closing down illegal operations, issuing warnings to real estate and investment building owners who shelter fugitives and other law breakers.

In a related context, Deputy Director of Manpower Protection Sector in the Public Authority for Manpower Mubarak Al-Azmi said that the sector will play its role in regard to labor violations and violations committed by commercial shops in the area.
