China launched a solar exploration satellite Sunday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the northwest of the country, to advance its scientific endeavors to learn the secrets of the sun.

The Advanced Space Solar Observatory (ASO-S) was launched on a Long March-2D carrier rocket at 07:43 am (Beijing time), entering its planned orbit successfully, reports a local Arabic daily.
