Security sources said the Central Prison witnessed a quarrel between a number of prisoners in Ward 7 and Ward 2, and it was controlled by security guards, without seeking the help of the Special Forces.
At the same time the sources denied that a member of the security forces was injured, explaining that the injury was among some prisoners, and they were transferred to Farwaniya Hospital to receive treatment, reports Al-Rai daily.
The sources added that a case has been registered against the parties to the quarrel, and legal measures have been taken against them.
On the other hand, security sources indicated that “four prisoners serving time for murder are on strike, demanding that they be included in an amnesty for the death penalty.”
The sources continued, “The security men tried to dissuade them from striking and submit a letter with their demands to the relevant authorities, because the administration of correctional institutions is not authorized to issue pardons.”
