The Central Agency for Resolving the Status of Illegal Residents (the bedoon) announced yesterday that it has amended the status of 18,217 bedouin people, from 2011 until the end of December 2021.

Director of the Status Adjustment Department in the agency, Brigadier-General Muhammad Al-Wahib, said 9,127 people have completed the procedures for adjusting their status in all state agencies, and the agency is currently following up on 9,090 cases, whose original nationalities were determined by the agency’s departments, reports Al-Rai daily.

He explained the determination is based on confirmed documents and valid evidence, including a passport, birth certificate, ID card, identity card, check print, passport register, community statement, recruitment book, statistics of the country of origin, and old government documents (citing the nationality and departure notice), noting that the agency has informed those concerned about it and begun procedures to amend their status.

He added the status of 8,068 persons have been modified to Iraqi nationality, of whom 1,112 have completed the modification procedures, and the status of 6,956 others are being modified, while the status of 6,583 persons have been modified to Saudi nationality, of whom 5,887 have completed the modification procedures, and the status of 696 others are being followed up.

The status of 1,133 people has also been modified to Syrian citizenship, of which 854 have completed the procedures, and the status of 279 others are being modified.

The status of 309 persons has also been modified to Iranian nationality, of who 106 have completed the amendment and the status of 203 others are being modified, while the status of 115 have been modified to Jordanian nationality, of whom 50 have completed this and the status of 65 others is in the process of being modified.

Also, the status of 2009 persons was modified to other nationalities, of whom 1,118 have completed, while the status of 891 others is being modified.

Al-Wuhaib called on anyone who wishes to amend his/her status to visit the headquarters of the Central Agency in the Al-Ardhiya area, to regularize his/her residence and reconcile his/her status according to the residence laws in force in Kuwait.
