The Court of Cassation has upheld the Court of Appeal’s ruling to imprison the kidnapper and murderer of the victim, Farah Akbar, with 7 years’ imprisonment with hard labor.

The defense lawyer of the victim’s heirs, lawyer Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan, confirmed in his defense the availability of the elements of the crime of kidnapping stipulated in Article 178 against the accused, indicating that he intended to stalk the victim by placing an electronic device in her car to monitor her movements and know her whereabouts on the day of the incident, then he went to the location of her car, he forced the door of her vehicle, reports Al-Rai daily.

Lawyer Al-Qattan added, “The accused forcefully pulled the victim from the driver’s seat to the next seat, and drove off with her. During that time, he began threatening her by saying that he could kidnap her at any time, in any place, and no one could prevent him from doing so.”

Al-Qattan pointed out that the accusation against the man was proven, explaining that the investigations of the officer and his statements in the prosecution indicated that the accused was lurking for the victim and actually kidnapped her by force and coercion.

It is noteworthy that the Court of Cassation had last December sentenced the man to death by hanging in a murder case, which occurred in April 2021.
