The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) said the authority has agreed to honor the technical report of the Public-Private Partnership Projects Authority, related to the Shaqaya Renewable Energy Project bids for the second and third phases.

Al-Rai quoting sources said, “There were four consulting offices competing to prepare the documents for the aforementioned project, but after the bids were opened, but documents submitted two out of the four offices were rejected due to some ‘deficiencies’.

The sources said the next step is to determine the winning consultant office to prepare the tender which the Authority was very late in deciding to give approval for the report of the Partnership Projects Authority.”

On the other hand, informed sources in the Partnership Projects Authority indicated there will be joint coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and Water and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research during the implementation stages of the two phases, according to the time plan that will be approved, based on the report of the advisory body.

The sources indicated the Ministry of Electricity and Water attaches great hopes to the implementation of this project, which is expected to have a production capacity of 3,500 megawatts, through three different technologies — photovoltaic energy, wind energy, and concentrated solar energy, since the project will contribute to raising the production capacity of electrical energy and meet the needs of the state during the coming years.

Meanwhile, reliable sources said the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is waiting for the closing date of the tender for the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of photovoltaic panels, on the roofs of Al-Subbiya ground water tanks, which is March 1, 2022, to start studying the bids of competing companies, and award the tender to the bid that meets the technical conditions.

This project is expected to produce electrical energy ranging between 25 and 30 megawatts.
