Health clubs and salons were forced to close from Sunday, with their owners complying with the decision as a measure to strengthen the health regulations to combat the coronavirus, Al Qabas reported. A committee formed by the Council of Ministers conducted rounds to ensure no violations of the decision.

Official sources said that the committee has been divided into teams to do sweeps of the governorates, noting that further decisions will be forthcoming on the recommendations provided by the committee during the first four days. Meanwhile, shop owners are warned to ensure businesses are closed and violators will be monitored. The next stage is issuing penalties for violators, which will be severe, including withdrawing and cancelling the shop’s licenses in the event of recurring violations, and cancelling the residency permits of expat workers in the business enterprises and referring them to deportation.

The head of the Barber Shop Union, Tariq Asad, confirmed to Al Qabas daily that everyone is adhering to the decisions issued by government agencies, and expressed his objection to the implementation mechanism.
