Allaying fears expressed in some quarters that prevailing dust storms would lead to the spread of COVID-19 infection, medical consultant and member of the Green Environment Group, Dr. Ghanim Al-Hijailan, said that while the dust storms could cause respiratory difficulties it would not lead to an increase in chance of infection by coronaviruses.

The dust storms which affected Kuwait on Saturday caused visibility to drop to less than a kilometer. The storm is expected to subside in the coming hours.

Health authorities are warning people suffering from allergies and asthma to avoid going out in the dust as it could aggravate their condition
