The governorate launched a strict campaign to end the phenomenon of drying clothes and leaving furnishings on the balcony of buildings, according to the governor of the capital, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, Al Rai daily reported. He pointed out that the campaign started in the areas of Sharq, Al-Mirqab and Bneid Al-Qar. 16 reports were sent to the owners who committed the violations and 3 pledges were signed not to repeat the offense.

The campaign aims to fulfill the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs instructions to ban the drying of clothes and leaving furnishings on the balconies which tends to ruin the facade of buildings.

The campaign will continue to firmly handle the issue especially in bachelors’ residential buildings and investment property buildings. He mentioned that “the phenomenon of spreading clothes and storing furnishings on the balcony distorts the general appearance of some areas and constitutes an explicit violation of the Ministry of State for Municipal Affairs decision”.

He noted that the decision prohibits the cleaning of carpets and furnishings on balconies, and it is prohibited to place or spread clothes or any other things on the rails for drying or ventilation or for any other purpose.

Al-Khaled praised the sincere efforts to monitor cleanliness in the governorate’s municipality branch and stressed the need for all citizens and expats of the governorate to adhere to this decision in order to avoid legal accountability.
