Camp Arifjan celebrated “Women’s Month” in the presence of a number of diplomats and military personnel from the US army and their counterparts from Kuwait.
During which the Chargé d’Affairs of the US Embassy, Jim Holtsnyder, stated that almost 50% of the American population acknowledges women’s contributions and recognizes the important role they play in our society, yet America still faces an issue of national security when it comes to women’s rights and their history.

Followed by, the Commander of the Area Support Group and the supervisor of Al-Qaeda operations in Buering and Arifjan, Col. Martin Walgemut praising the role played by women in the US Army, pointing out that there are thousands of them who live and work in Camps Arifjan and Buering.

Further adding that celebrating Women’s Month is a unique opportunity to review the success stories of woman, their journey to empowerment, and the most prominent obstacles they were able to overcome, also pointing out that number of women in Camp Arifjan exceeds 3,000.

Then, Brigadier General Maria, the first woman to hold this position in the US Army in Kuwait mentioned that the women volunteers in Camp Arifjan have a significant role, with approximately 35% women volunteers in her unit itself and about 19% women volunteers in all sectors of the US Army.

She said that the unit to which she belongs depends on logistical work such as supplying water and fuel for the organized operations that support the American forces, adding that this opportunity to work at the Arifjan base as a rank holder is an honorary experience for her.
