Two days after the operation of direct flights and the big hike in ticket prices, especially on the Cairo-Kuwait route, which touched 500 dinars per ticket (one-way), the cost of ticket saw a downward trend on the same route and member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Tourism and Travel Offices Hussein Al-Sulaiten said the cost of one-way ticket on Cairo-Kuwait route now ranged between KD 350 and KD 370 dinars for mid-September booking, and for end of September he put the price at between KD 300 and KD 330.

Al-Sulaiten told Al-Anba the reservations percentage and demand for travel did not exceed 30% of travel before the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, for several reasons, most notably the high cost of tickets in the face ‘quota’ set for all airlines by the Council of Ministers — 10,000 passengers per day.

He pointed out that there are a lot of requests from citizens to obtain the ‘Schengen’ visa but the problem is to get an appointment which is after more than a month, which makes it difficult for those who wish to spend the summer in Europe.

Al-Sulaiten added the tickets prices on the Cairo-Turkey route have increased since the beginning of this month compared to last month by 30%, due to the big demand from the Kuwaitis to return home before the schools open on Oct 4.

He said it is surprising that Kuwait still sticks to the same ‘quota’ especially since Kuwait has almost acquired the community immunity.
