The Council of Ministers, headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, held its weekly meeting on Monday morning at Seif Palace. After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Isa Al-Kandari said that on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, the Kuwaiti leadership and the people recall the crime of treachery committed by the Iraqi regime’s army on 2 August 1990. Al-Kandari added that the Council recalls with appreciation and reverence the prominent role played by the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad, the late Father Amir Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah and the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad in working to liberate Kuwait from occupation.

Al-Anbaa wrote that the Council evokes the heroic sacrifices of the Kuwaiti people during aggression, which is a model of national unity, and renews its deep gratitude to friendly countries that contributed to the liberation of Kuwait, perpetuating the blessing of security and stability under the leadership of the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad and the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad.

The Cabinet reviewed the recent sessions of the National Assembly, during which some proposals for laws and a draft law were approved, while stressing the need to enhance fruitful joint work and continue coordination between the executive and legislative authorities. They expressed their keenness to extend the hand of sincere and constructive cooperation between the government and the National Assembly, and hoped that the next stage would witness more constructive cooperation between the two authorities. Moreover, the Cabinet also reviewed the book of Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmed Al-Saadoun, which included remarks from the members of the National Assembly regarding the government’s work program for the seventeenth legislative term 2023-2027. The Cabinet decided to assign Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment and Acting Minister of Finance Dr. Saad Al-Barrak to study the book and submit his recommendations.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved a draft decree adjourning the first ordinary session of the seventeenth legislative term of the National Assembly, after the National Assembly completed its special session scheduled for Wednesday and submitted it to His Highness the Crown Prince.
