The Cabinet held its weekly meeting this afternoon at Seif Palace under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, Al Jarida daily reported.

During the meeting, the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basil Hammoud Al-Sabah explained the developments in the spread of the Coronavirus and its regional and global variants, and details of statistics that show the stability of the health situation in Kuwait due to the decline in indicators of the epidemiological situation in terms of numbers of infections and deaths and those receiving treatment in Intensive care and Covid 19 wings and a high recovery rate of 97.3 percent.

The Cabinet took note of the progress of the vaccination campaign for the anti-Coronavirus vaccine, which is witnessing a great turnout by citizens and residents in the various vaccination centers spread throughout the country.

The Council of Ministers expressed its deep satisfaction with the continuation of the positive indicators witnessed by the country and the positive cooperation of citizens and residents in the demand for vaccination, which reflects the extent of awareness and the spirit of responsibility.

At the outset of its meeting, the Council of Ministers expressed its deep appreciation for the directives of His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of the country, may God protect him, to participate in combating forest fires in Algeria, Turkey, and Greece, based on the policy of Kuwait and its humanitarian stances towards Helping countries affected by natural disasters.

The Council of Ministers decided to assign the concerned government agencies to provide all means of support and assistance, including equipment and mechanisms for combating and rescue, human cadres, and equipment for support and assistance in extinguishing their ongoing forest fires.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah then talked about the results of his recent visit to the friendly Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Ibrahim Raisi on the occasion of His inauguration as a new President of the Republic.

In this regard, the Council of Ministers expressed its sincere congratulations to His Excellency the President of the friendly Islamic Republic of Iran for taking the constitutional oath, wishing His Excellency success and success in his duties in a way that leads to supporting security and stability in the region.

The Cabinet approved a draft decree appointing Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah as Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs and submitting it to His Highness the Amir, may God protect him, wishing him success and success.

Within the framework of the Cabinet’s follow-up to the implementation mechanism of some government projects, the Cabinet reviewed the visual presentation submitted by the Public Utilities Company and the Tourism Projects Company on some government projects.

The Council of Ministers also discussed the recommendation of the Public Services Committee regarding the annual report submitted by the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport on the works and services provided by the Authority during the fiscal year (2020-2021).

And based on the government’s keenness to overcome all obstacles that may face the return to school plan to ensure the safety of our students, students, educational staff, workers, and parents, where the Council of Ministers reviewed the recommendation of the Education, Health, and Youth Committee and the latest developments in the Ministry of Education’s plan regarding the measures that it will take when the year resumes the next academic year (2021 – 2022) for the public, private and qualitative education following the health requirements in force in this regard

In this regard, the Cabinet reviewed the visual presentation submitted by the Minister of Education, Dr. Ali Fahd Al-Mudhaf, and leaders of the Ministry of Education on the preparations for the back-to-school plan for the next academic year 2021-2022 for the public, private and qualitative education sectors, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and following health procedures and requirements to confront the Corona pandemic. The presentation included an explanation of the mechanism and plan for facilitating work at all educational levels, as well as precautionary measures and organizational measures that would allow students to continue their academic achievement systematically and compensate for the educational loss.

The Council of Ministers commended the great and sincere efforts made by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health to complete the education process in the interest of our students. The Council of Ministers decided to entrust the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the authorities it deems appropriate to take all measures that would ensure a smooth return for the next school year. (2021 – 2022) and ensuring compliance with health requirements.

Then the Council of Ministers discussed political affairs in light of the latest developments and current developments on the political scene at the Arab and international levels. The ministers expressed their sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the governments and peoples of these brotherly and friendly countries and wished the injured a speedy recovery, expressing hope that the relevant authorities would be able to put out these fires as quickly as possible.

The Council of Ministers also welcomed the appointment of Mr. Hans Grundberg as Envoy of the United Nations Special Secretary-General in Yemen. The Council wished Mr. Hans success in his new duties to continue the international efforts aimed at putting an end to the conflict in Yemen per the three agreed references (the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanisms – the outcomes of the national dialogue – Resolution Security Council No. 2216) The Council affirmed the State of Kuwait’s continued support for international efforts aimed at reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis that would end the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people and achieve security and stability in the region.
