Director-General of the Public Authority for Manpower, Ahmed Al-Mousa, said the Cabinet has approved the authority’s proposal to “continue disbursing national labor support during the ‘conscription’ period,” reports Al-Rai daily.
He said the authority found the current text of Article (9) of Cabinet Resolution No. 391 of 2001 forbids to disburse support if a person entitled for support joins the national military service, whether compulsory or otherwise, which the authority called in appropriate — in appreciation of the patriotic duty undertaken by the conscript — and submitted a proposal to the Council of Ministers to request an amendment to the provisions of this decision to allow the continuation of the disbursement of national labor support upon joining the national service.
He added that “the commission submitted this proposal to the Council of Ministers after coordination with the National Military Service Authority and the Civil Service Commission, reviewing the draft resolution and sending it to the Fatwa and Legislation Department.”
He went on to say, “The draft resolution was referred to the Legal Committee of the Council of Ministers, which gave its recommendation to the Council of Ministers to approve the disbursement of support to the citizen if he joins the national service. The Council discussed the recommendation of the Legal Committee in its session held on Jan 17, 2022 and ended up approving the commission’s proposal to continue disbursing support to conscripts
