Bulgarian Embassy organized an enchanting orchestra concert under the patronage of the Ambassador of Bulgaria, H.E. Dimitar Dimitrov, on 6 March at the Abdulhussain Abdulredha Theater in Salmiya. The concert was part of the 28th iteration of the ongoing Al-Qurain Cultural Festival — Kuwait’s annual cultural fest held under the sponsorship of the National Council of Culture Arts and Letters.

The event was attended by Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, along members of the diplomatic corps, and the Director of the Al-Qurain Cultural Festival, Muhammad bin Reda, as well as a large audience of music lovers.

In his speech on the occasion, Ambassador Dimitrov stressed on the importance of cultural exchange in supporting and strengthening relations between countries, as “music is an universal language that acts as a distinctive bridge of communication and provides a solid ground for common understanding.

He also noted that the participation of the Bulgarian musical troupe in the Al-Qurain Festival celebrates the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries. He added that more events and activities would be arranged throughout the year to highlight the importance of this historic anniversary.

Giving an overview of the orchestra, Ambassador Dimitrov said it was founded in 2017 and its ensemble includes three women and two men, who were joined for the performance in Kuwait by two guest artists, opera singer Anna Karadimitrova, and her husband, clarinetist Preslav Petkov. He added that the two Bulgarian guest artists had spent 17 years of their lives studying music in Kuwaiti schools and universities.

The performance by the band on the clarinet, guitar, mandolin and mandola, as well as renditions by Soprano Anna, were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience, who showed their appreciation with loud applause at the end of the performance.
