The Director General of the General Department of Nationality and Travel Documents, Major General Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled, revealed that Article 17 passports (issued to bedoun) are provided with an electronic chip, similar to the Kuwaiti passport.
The Al-Rai daily said an integrated building in the city of Sa’ad Al-Abdullah has been allocated to complete and issue these passports.
Al-Khaled said this Tuesday evening on the sidelines of his reception of citizens and residents to complete transactions and meet those with complaints and grievances as part of government open door policy.
Major General Al-Khaled added, “We are waiting to receive 500,000 new Kuwaiti passports, and 250,000 Article 17 passports and for the first time it will contain a special segment, similar to the forgery proof Kuwaiti passport, in line with the systems and devices at the world’s airports.
