The British Embassy in Kuwait marked the anniversary of the First World War veterans who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

A group of armed forces, members of the diplomatic corps and military attachés, Assistant Undersecretary in the Ministry of Defense Sheikha Shamayel Al-Sabah, and members of military missions participated in the ceremony, which falls on November 11 of each year. A one-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims.

British Ambassador, Belinda Lewis, stressed that commemorating the soldiers of the First World War is a tribute to those who fell in line of military duty. It is a great opportunity for us to reflect on those we lost after they made sacrifices for their countries, she said.

“We do not only remember the soldiers who died, but also the innocent civilians who died in terrorist attacks,” she added, noting that it was these soldiers who made the children of the future live in safety.
