The Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is expected to meet on Wednesday to officially cancel the earlier decision not to renew the work permits of non-graduate expatriates who are 60 years and above.

The “Al-Rai” has learned the meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, who is also PAM chairman to resolve the issue.

Informed sources suggested the Board of Directors has approved in principle to cancel the earlier decision which the Fatwa and Legislation Department of the Council of Ministers has ruled ‘null and void’.

The sources indicated that there are premises of understanding between the members of PAM board of directors to cancel the 60s decision in the upcoming meeting, and direct the concerned authorities to re-issue work permits for this segment again, according to what was in place before the issuance of this decision.

However, some sources said, among the new proposals on the table is to impose 250 dinars renewal fee in addition to the health insurance.
