The Kuwait Municipality prevented the granting of official licenses to booths and kiosks within cooperative societies, despite the attempts of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Development to provide the necessary licenses from the relevant authorities to facilitate the owners of small and medium enterprises, and to achieve the country’s vision to support young people, Al Qabas reported.

While it is noticed that there are several kiosks or booths in cooperative societies, the daily learned that most of these activities, especially those located on the ground floors of supermarkets, do not carry the required licenses from state authorities, especially those issued by the Kuwait Municipality, and therefore they are in violation.

In this context, the Director of the Cooperative Development Department at the Ministry of Affairs, Hiyam Al-Khudair, told the daily the booths in cooperative societies are not approved by the Kuwait Municipality, and therefore it is not possible to grant and facilitate access to illegal sites and activities that are not approved by the concerned authorities in the country.

Al-Khudair added that the reason for preventing the presence of booths on the ground floor is related to the Kuwait Municipality, which is the authority concerned with determining the activities authorized to be established in cooperative societies.

The Ministry of Affairs received several books from the municipality prohibiting the establishment of booths and kiosks in general in cooperative societies, but during a meeting with municipal officials to discuss the issue, there was no objection to the presence of such activities, provided that the booths do not constitute obstacles that cause crowding. among market-goers, and not to impede movement in cases of fire and others.
