The authorities in Bolivia confirmed that they are about to arrest one of the largest cocaine smugglers in the world, wanted in four countries, after launching a large-scale security operation to chase him involving more than two thousand elements.

Thirty-two-year-old Sebastian Enrique Marcette Cabrera is wanted on charges of drug smuggling in his hometown of Uruguay, in addition to Paraguay, Brazil, the United States and by the Interpol, who has fled the country and moved between several countries to avoid arrest, reports Al-Rai daily quoting AFP.

“A series of raids were carried out in the province of Santa Cruz to capture a major drug trafficker in our region and the entire world,” said Bolivian Interior Minister Eduardo del Castillo.

“We have mobilized more than 2,250 police officers and more than 144 vehicles, carried out more than 23 operations and six raids, and arrested 12 people,” he added.

The Bolivian authorities suggest that Cabrera is located in the vast Santa Cruz region bordering Brazil and Paraguay in southeastern Bolivia.

Del Castillo pledged that he would succeed in “arresting Mr. Sebastian Enrique Marcette Cabrera,” noting that his Peruvian wife and three of his children are with him.

The authorities believe that Marcette Cabrera entered Bolivia last September and carried out public activities, including the purchase of a football club playing in the second division in the country.
