As part of Kuwait’s efforts to enhance its defense capabilities against potential regional threats, the US Air Force awarded Boeing a $70 million contract to provide logistical support to Kuwaiti pilots on board the multi-tasking F/A-18E/F fighter jet.

According to the US Air Force Technology website, the deal supports the entry of the F/ A-18E/F fighter jet into the Kuwaiti Armed Forces as a fighter designed for conventional strike operations and air support, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The site reported that Kuwait is phasing out its air defense fleet consisting of F/A-18C and F/A-18D Hornet aircraft.

The site stated that work on the project includes general logistical support, management of logistical programs and support for aircraft during pilot training using the advanced “targeting capsules” system, which will help enhance targeting capabilities and will be implemented for a period of three years.

The website stressed that the contract “will enhance Kuwait’s capabilities to confront regional threats and protect its borders and key infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, the site mentioned that the “Kuwaiti Defense Market 2022-2027” report issued by GlobalData stated that “the Kuwaiti government is preparing to host one of the largest US military air bases in the Middle East, at an expected cost of \32 million,” noting that building A new shipping city in the country “will enable Kuwait to rehabilitate the operational effectiveness of its army and enhance security and stability.”

He pointed out that the value of the fixed military aircraft market in Kuwait is estimated at $496 million, with an expectation that it will reach $1 billion by 2026.
