Kuwait is expected to reach a landmark half a million vaccinations in the coming week after raising daily vaccination targets to almost 24,000 in a single day, Arabic daily Al Rai reported.

Since the official start of the vaccination campaign on Dec 27, 2020 the pace of vaccinations has picked up to reach a peak number of 24,000 in a single day this week with almost 450,000 people vaccinated with the two vaccines Pfizer and Oxford.

Al Rai reported that the coming days will witness a further jump in the increase in vaccination rates as the supply of Pfizer vaccine has continued uninterrupted and the second batch of Oxford AztaZenca is expected soon.

The daily infections however continues to cross one thousand despite the partial curfew imposed in the country is now in its second week. The MoH has urged both citizens and expats to avoid gatherings and maintain social distancing as well as follow all the covid protocols.

A campaign to urge both citizens and expats to register for vaccination will kick off this week so that the population is protected from the infection.

Al Rai also reported that 231 Pakistani medical personnel will resume work this week after completing their quarantine period. A total of 631 Pakistani doctors and nurses have so far joined into the Ministry of Health as part of their efforts to help fight the spread of coronavirus.
