The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the release of the two American hostages from Gaza came “after many days of continuous contacts” with all parties.
The spokesman added that the Qatari dialogue regarding the release of the hostages will continue with Israel and Hamas. He said that Qatar hopes that the dialogue will lead to “the release of all civilian hostages of all nationalities.”
US President Joe Biden expressed his “overwhelming happiness” after Hamas released two American hostages that it had held.
Biden said in a statement: “Our two compatriots have suffered a terrible ordeal over the past 14 days, and I feel overjoyed that they will soon be reunited with their family.”
Biden thanked Qatar and Israel for their partnership in this endeavor.
