The President of the Kuwait Society of Engineers, Eng. Faisal Al-Atl, affirmed the strengthening of Kuwait’s relations with all friendly countries, pointing out that the society has given the not to recognize the title of ‘engineer’ for all nationalities subject to international standards that the society’s rules and regulations.
This came during Al-Atl’s meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the European Union Mission, Gediminas Varanavicius, the ambassadors of Croatia Amir Muharimi and Bulgaria Dimitr Dimitrov, the deputy head of the Czech mission, Eva Dardakova, the advisor of the Romanian embassy, Catalin Nestor, and the French cultural attaché, Rachel Blissig, at the association’s headquarters, in the presence of the representative of the European Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Alonyan and the Secretary Fahd Al-Otaibi and a number of members of the KSE Board of Directors.
Al-Atl explained to the European ambassadors that “the society’s criteria for accrediting European engineering qualifications depend on the lists of the European Council for the Accreditation of Engineering Qualifications,” pointing out that “this work has been carried out by the association for nearly 60 years since the founding of the Engineering Qualifications Accreditation Committee.”
Al-Atl thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its interest, stressing the society’s keenness to cooperate and seek the assistance of engineers from European countries and transfer their expertise, pointing out that since the association took over the task of accrediting non-Kuwaiti engineers, about 70,000 applications from all nationalities were processed, and about 13,000 of them were rejected, as it became clear after checking each of them separately that their qualifications did not comply with the accreditation lists and standards approved in the State of Kuwait.
For his part, Varanavicius pointed out that “the mission does not deal with universities individually, and he is confident that the ambassadors of the European Union accredited to Kuwait will clarify these procedures and “we will cooperate to introduce them to the universities of member states.”
