Embassy of Belgium held an event to celebrate the ‘King’s Feast’, during which the Belgian Ambassador H.E. Marc Trenzo praised the brotherly bond between Belgium and Kuwait.

He expressed his aspiration to strengthen the bilateral friendship, especially through enhanced cooperation in fields of economic, investment and trade.

He also recalled with pride his country’s participation in the coalition to liberate Kuwait.

Ambassador Trenzo pointed out that Belgium is a country with great potential and added that the two countries have bilateral cooperation in trade that has witnessed continuous progress, even during the pandemic that devastated world trade. He noted that trade has now fairly recovered and has reached a volume that amounted to around 281 million euros since the first half of 2022.

Stating that Belgium and Kuwait have suffered from the ordeal of invasion, he added that this was a reason for the two to actively encourage implementation of the United Nations Charter that urges principles of peaceful resolutions in conflicts.

On the humanitarian front, he noted that Kuwait continues to be a major donor in helping people in need around the world, as well as caring for the plight of the Palestinians.

In conclusion, he highlighted the passion for football that is shared by Belgium and Kuwait, and also expressed his gratitude to the Kuwait Football Association for their warm welcome to Belgium’s national football team during their arrival in Kuwait for the friendly match with the Egyptian national team.
