On behalf of the Kingdom of Belgium and its people, I have the pleasure to extend our heartfelt congratulations and warmest wishes to His Highness the new Amir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the new Crown prince, Sheikh Meshal Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and the people of Kuwait on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the Independence and the 30th Anniversary of the Liberation of Kuwait to which Belgium contributed as an active member of the coalition.
I would like to congratulate His Highness the Amir with the continued leadership of Kuwait in promoting unity and diplomacy in the Gulf region. Belgium values the excellent bilateral relations with Kuwait in all fields, based on shared values, mutual respect and a long lasting friendship. The cooperation between our two countries was recently highlighted by the signing of a protocol for the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).
I am confident that our bilateral cooperation and relations will only be further strengthened for the mutual benefit of our countries and peoples, well beyond this difficult period of the corona pandemic.
