Women’s salons reopened to a small demand from clients on Tuesday but this was mainly due to some apprehension about the coronavirus situation. Many salons did not increase prices, and resorted to tempting offers to attract clients, Al-Rai reported. A number of beauty salon owners spoke to the daily on the first day of the salons’ opening.

In the beginning, Intissar Ahmed, owner of New Violet salon, said that the client turnout was weak in the beginning of the day, and she expected it would increase in the coming days.  Explaining that some customers were apprehensive from the start, she was patiently waiting for things to start to pick up again.

Ahmed explained that the salon is fully prepared to receive clients, with all the equipment sterilized, and expressed her hope for business to return to normal, so that she can compensate for the losses she incurred during the past months, when the salons were forced to suspend their business as a measure against the coronavirus.

Sending a message to all the salon’s clients, she said that every salon sets a price list and adheres to it, so there is no price increase, in addition there are a range of attractive offers for clients to avail.

“I have been visiting this salon for years, and I trust its owner and staff, to reassure me,” said Suad Al-Humayyan, a client of the salon. She added that for some the beginning will be difficult, due to fear over the coronavirus, but after some days have passed, things will return to normal, especially with the salon owners keenness to adhere to the precautionary conditions and to sterilize all equipment.

Al-Humayyan expressed her happiness that the salons are open again, and with the commitment to health precautions, the situation is reassuring to customers, especially the facility for booking appointments that helps to avoid crowding, and allows for the required spacing.

For her part, owner of the Sabahiya salon, Azhar al-Barghouti, said, “Female employees are obligated to wear masks, and we are all inside the salon, committed to the terms of health security and safety.”

She added, “Clients are obligated to book appointments before coming to the salon, and to wear masks and gloves.” Explaining that hygiene is maintained in the salon, she stressed her concern for the safety of her employees as well as clients.

In turn, the owner of the salon, Jaber Al-Ali, Amal Naeem, said that she has made all the necessary preparations to receive clients to her salon, noting that she has also prepared the facilities by putting up explanatory health posters.
