Australian authorities temporarily closed a beach in the west of the country after a woman was attacked by a large shark on Thursday morning.

The authorities said in a statement that a 5- to 6-meter-long shark bit a woman surfing while she was 100 meters from the beach, which led to her falling into the water around 8:00 am local time (00:00 GMT), reports Al-Rai daily.

It was not immediately clear what type of shark it was.
