Officials from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy convened a preparatory meeting to address the observations made by the Audit Bureau in its annual report on the Ministry’s final account for the fiscal year 2022-2023.

The report scrutinized the budget implementation of ministries and government departments. According to informed sources within the Ministry, discussions are underway to engage with the Parliamentary Budgets Committee, particularly concerning financial violations.
The sources disclosed that Dr. Jassim Al-Astad, the Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, is in the process of establishing an investigation committee to thoroughly examine and address the financial irregularities highlighted in the Audit Bureau’s latest report, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a separate development, efforts are being made to clear four warehouses located in the Subhan area, which were utilized by the Ministry of Health during the “Corona” pandemic to store medical supplies.

Out of six warehouses used during that period, the Ministry has already received two, with ongoing coordination to acquire the remaining four. The Ministry had previously communicated with the Ministry of Health to reclaim the materials in these warehouses for reuse by the Ministry of Electricity.

The process of evacuating and repurposing these warehouses for electricity-related materials is currently underway.

It is worth noting that one of the observations raised in the recent Audit Bureau report highlighted overcrowding in some of the Ministry’s warehouses, attributing it to inadequate storage space for the diverse materials used in its operations.
