The movie “Barbie” continues to dominate the box office in North American cinemas, nearly a month after the launch of the work, which has become a global phenomenon, despite the controversy it raised to the point of being banned in some countries.
This film, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, entered the history of cinema last week after it became the first work signed by a female director whose global revenues exceeded the threshold of one billion dollars, reports Al-Rai daily.
The work, which narrates the adventures of the famous Barbie doll made by Mattel, in the real world with her friend Ken, at the end of the last week brought in revenues of nearly $34 million in the United States and Canada, according to estimates published Sunday by the specialized company, “Experior Relations”.
The famous doll stole the spotlight again from “Oppenheimer”, as the film, directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Cillian Murphy, collected revenues of nearly $ 19 million.
