The Public Prosecution announced that it had ordered the detention of a Municipal Council member for allegedly requesting sums of money as a bribe, in return for his work to complete two transactions, while on duty, on behalf of two local companies, an Arab daily reported.
The report mentioned that the prosecutor had taken the statement of the representative of one of the two companies that refused to pay the bribe and reported it instead. The suspect was also interrogated, detained and charged with bribery, as well as abuse of power. The case is under investigation while individuals involved were detained and interrogated until investigation procedures are completed.
