Bahrain’s Cabinet has mourned the death of His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, saying Islamic nations have lost a “great humanitarian leader” of significant regional and global stature.

Sheikh Sabah devoted his life to doing all in his power to serve his country, his people, the Gulf Cooperation Council bloc and Arab and Islamic nations, read a statement carried by Bahrain’s state news agency, BNA.

“His memory will long remain in the minds of nations of the Gulf and Arab regions and the world,” the Bahraini ministers said, expressing their heartfelt condolences and commiserations to Kuwait’s ruling family and its people over the loss.

The Cabinet separately congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on his assumption of the country’s leadership, wishing him success in his new role and growth and prosperity for Kuwait.
