Bachelors living in government housing areas faced evictions and citations after Kuwait Municipality workers began a crack-down on single expats residing in such areas.

Last week, workers from the municipality issued 47 citations for violating the law against housing bachelors in private residential areas and placed 320 eviction notice stickers on other properties.

As part of the ongoing crack-down, electricity was disconnected to 43 violating houses and 23 evictions were made during the first week of the ‘Be Assured’ campaign launched on July 1.

According to the Kuwait Municipality’s Public Relations Department, the campaign will continue in various areas.

The department also clarified that of the total eviction notices issued so far, 22 notices were handed over in the Capital governorate, 90 in Farwaniya governorate, 124 in Ahmadi Governorate, 76 in Jahra governorate, six in Hawally governorate and two in Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate.
