The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced, Tuesday, the opening of central electronic registration for the 2024 Hajj season, starting from Sunday, October 1, until next November 10, through the ministry’s portal.

Spokesman Salman Murad Al-Kandari told Al-Rai daily, after the aforementioned period the applicants will be selected according to the specified conditions, and then an exhibition will be held that includes Hajj campaigns approved by the ministry.

Al-Kandari added that the pilgrim who is nominated for Hajj can choose the campaign that suits his needs and desires and determine the appropriate mechanism for paying 25 percent of the fees to ensure registration in the caravan.

He stated that the electronic registration system achieves many goals, such as creating a spirit of competition between campaigns to provide the best services to the pilgrims, giving pilgrims the freedom to choose the appropriate Hajj program, and enabling those who have not previously performed Hajj to perform the Hajj.

He pointed out that registration targets citizens within a group of no more than five relatives (grandfather – grandmother – father – mother – brother – sister – son – daughter – husband – wife – aunt) or citizens with one resident companion (wife – mother – husband – son – daughter).

He stated that “registration will not be allowed for those who have previously performed Hajj except for three categories, such as companions for the elderly people who are over 70 years of age, those with special needs (severe disability), and the mahram for women who have not previously performed Hajj,” adding that “as for the bedoun category, they can register until approval is received from the Saudi authorities.”

Al-Kandari pointed out that there is a special policy in the event of cancellation of the reservation, as “the pilgrim will be able to recover the full amount if the cancellation is before January 31, 2024, but in the event of cancellation after this date, the full amount will be deducted from the pilgrim.”
